Halifax Dance - Downtown Dance Project

Ongoing construction has been a issue for local businesses in Halifax these past few years. But especially this year with the improvements to Argyle street on going, traffic has been way down. Halifax Dance approached my friends at Click Productions to do a “Dancers among Us” type series to help promote the area and draw more attention to support the businesses during landscaping and constuction.

I’ve worked with Dancers in the past to capture live shows but have to say I was really excited to go on location and work with these passionate, talented ladies and awesome local businesses. Was fun working with the team and a bit of a challenge to get images in locations that was still serving customer and only having a half hour at each location.

Think we came out with some really great images and everyone was super accommodating to us working on the streets of Halifax.

Kept the setups really simple and fast moving, everything was able to fit into one backpack. I love shooting with my Fujifilm Xpro2 as it keeps the weight I'm carrying down. The Profoto B1 with OCF Beauty Dish was the perfect location light as everything is contained in a single package and was easily handled by my assistant on set.

I'm so happy how this project came together and working with the team at Click Productions and Halifax Dance. Be sure to check out the images in Print on Argyle Street while constriction is on going and get out there eat, drink, and shop at these great local businesses.
